University of Arizona Health Sciences (UAHS) Scheduling manages and supports the enterprise scheduling solution for UAHS, Astra Schedule. UAHS Scheduling works closely with the Phoenix Bioscience Core and UAHS leadership to generate room utilization reports and develop policies and procedures.
Both the PBC and UAHS operate separate Astra Schedule instances with a shared database apart from the UA Registrar's office on Tucson's main campus. The PBC Astra Schedule instance is maintained and managed at the PBC, while the UAHS Astra Schedule instance is maintained and managed at the Tucson Health Sciences campus. We collaborate on version upgrades, user acceptance testing (UAT), beta testing, and troubleshooting. We also provide training and support to our campus users. The UAHS Scheduling team also serves and collaborates on the Astra Schedule National Client Advisory Board (CAB).
UAHS Scheduling helps oversee and coordinate the reservation bookings for curriculum and administrative sessions for the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) and the Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB) in Tucson using Astra Schedule.
The Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB) is a new state-of-the-art instructional space. It is a 220,000 square-foot structure near the Medical Research Building (MRB) on the UA Health Sciences Campus. The HSIB offers flexible, large, medium and small group/team learning areas and clinical labs and simulation centers for a broad spectrum of instructional applications.
The Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) consists of several instructional, research, health care, and staff facilities in the heart of downtown Phoenix, AZ. The PBC hosts the College of Medicine-Phoenix, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health, College of Nursing, College of Eller, and Northern Arizona University (NAU) and their Health & Human Services colleges.
The PBC is a city initiative bringing bioresearch and education to downtown Phoenix. The State of Arizona and the City of Phoenix, as well as other vital community partners, continue to be strong supporters of the college, intent on developing the Phoenix Bioscience Core as a major biosciences hub and premier provider of medical education. The campus also serves as a major economic engine: At full build-out, the Phoenix Bioscience Core is anticipated to generate an economic impact of $2.1 billion annually.
